My favorite Halloween Costumes

Those of us who are teachers get to enjoy the wonderful experience of watching our students dress up for Halloween. Here are a few of my favorite costumes worn this year by the girls at our school.

Naughty Police Officer
Naughty Nurse
Naughty Dorothy (from the Wizard of Oz)
Naughty Bo-Peep
Naughty Raggedy Ann (one of my students who I renamed Skankity Ann)
Naughty Lion
Naughty Ladybug (at least 5 of them)
Naughty Bumblebee
Naughty Referee (one of my students counted 11)
Naughty Farm Girl (random gingham dresses barely covering the ass, thigh high stockings, spiked heels)
Naughty Angel

How these girls were allowed out of the house in the clothing they were wearing is beyond me. I am so thankful we are having a boy.

Happy Halloween.

Go Climb a Rock

Well, some of you know that I've gotten back into climbing. I've hooked up with a great group of guys and they are pushing me to the limits. I've started lead climbing and this is a picture from The Pinnacles in Big Bear. This picture is from my third lead climb of the day. It was a beautiful day in Big Bear, not just weather-wise, but because I'm becoming a better climber with each passing weekend. I've been climbing all over SoCal since this past May...Joshua Tree last weekend was the best by far! I'm looking forward to many more trips out of the rocks. I'm heading out to Red Rock in Vegas for Veteran's Day weekend. I plan to get Ms. Ma out of the rocks with me. :) Wish me luck!

Holy Shit!

Just got this on email. Some of the email addresses looked outdated so I thought I would post it here:

Hey Everyone-

After months of being apart as Kelli & I endure my latest job transition (to South Florida of all godforsaken places), we had a great reunion this last week/end in San Francisco. Coming at a perfect time to help bridge our distance apart, I am very happy to announce that, after years of patience, Kelli graciously gave an unequivocal "yes" to the Big Question.

We've no immediate plans, as we've many hoops to jump through before we are back together and settled in Santa Barbara in January but, naturally, you will all be the first to know.

Kelli made me promise that there would be no Kelli Leigh Gifford jokes- so you've all been warned....

Miss you all,

-Grant

Save the Date

This is extremely early, but considering that dinner the other night was the last time some of us will see each other until Christmas, I figured I would let you start planning. The party this year will be on Dec. 2 at the Switzer house. We are having it earlier in the month so that Mo and David can still attend, and we are having it at the Switzer house since I might be on some form of bedrest by then..... So save the date....and if there is a major problem with it, let us know now.

29 weeks and counting

Well folks, I am now 29 weeks along and looking big. Things are going ok...pregnancy is kicking my ass in the fatigue department. I'm anemic and carrying excess fluid (almost the equivalent of the Great Salt Lake--ok, not that much, but a lot). Things are progressing and the little man inside me is now over 3 pounds. We will know more about early labor and all those fun things that go along with excess fluid in week 35.

Dave and I had our last fantastic romantic fling before le bebe comes last weekend when we went to Pismo Beach, checked into a nice hotel, got massages, sat at the beach, wine tasted (Dave only), ate like kings, and wandered around the central coast. It was a blast...fantastic weather...and we came back renewed and rejuvinated and ready to finish our many projects around Casa Whitman.

We had our floors redone in September and if you've ever had that lovely experience, you know that it's like moving--packing every little thing up and moving all the furniture. I'm still digging my way through the boxes when I have the energy. We've repainted the living room and the hallway is a quarter done with the nursery coming next. Oh so fun!!! Lots to accomplish in the next 2 months! Lord help me.
