This past weekend, Patrick (my soup du jour) took me on a surprise get-away to Mendocino. We stayed at a quaint B&B with no TV, phone, or cell phone coverage. It was wonderful being cut off from the world. I was amazed at how easily I slipped into the "relax" mode when there were no other distractions available. It's so hard in this day to day hustle and bustle kind of world to really separate oneself from the stressors of life. I liked the fact that there was absolute quiet everywhere we turned. Even the weather was cooperative in that the storm that was scheduled to come never materialized. In its place were clear skies and a light breeze. Even the moon seemed to shine brighter than normal. I enjoyed the change of pace and I look forward to escaping from my hectic life more often in the future. :)
P.S. I felt so small amongst the redwoods.

I talk to the trees
But they don't listen to me
I talk to the stars
But they never hear me
The breeze hasn't time
To stop, and hear what I say
I talk to them all
In vain
But suddenly, my words
Reach someone elses ear
At someone elses heart
Strings too
I tell you my dreams
And while you're listening to me
I suddenly see them
Come true
I can see us some April night
Looking out across a rollin' farm
Having supper in the candlelight
Walking later, arm in arm
Then I'll tell you
How I pass the day
Thinking mainly how
The night would be
Then I'll try to find
The words to say
All the things you
Mean to me
I tell you my dreams
And while you're
Listening to me
I suddenly see them
Come true

Did you write this yourself? If so, I'm impressed! :)
